About Us
Who is MKA?

The Montana Karting Association was formed in 2007 as a 501c3 non-profit corporation. Our
Mission is to develop a family oriented club and kart track facility to be used and enjoyed by kart
enthusiasts across Montana. Our club promotes the ideals of family participation, good
sportsmanship, safe driving skills, personal responsibility and the support of charitable activities
and community involvement through competitions, events and club sponsored projects.
Kart Track Project

With the successful completion of our Kart Track, Montana will have access to this type of outdoor
facility and club for the first time in over 40 years. Karting was a very well attended recreational
and family activity in the 50's and early 60's. Locally, there were paved tracks in Great Falls and Ft.
Benton, both with fairly extensive family memberships. Montana is currently one of only three
states (Montana, Wyoming & Rhode Island) in the country that does not have an outdoor kart
facility available. Yes, even our often joked about neighbors in North Dakota have use of several
paved kart tracks. No, the weather is no excuse either, because Alaska has 3. Great Falls is
sandwiched between the Rocky Mountain Front and the Little Belt Mountains where motorized
recreation, multiple-use routes and Forest Service Travel Plans have major impacts on how we
spend our recreational time. Forest fire restrictions often cut summers short on trails used by all
interests. A karting facility, on a designated property, will prove to be an alternative for many
Montana residents. How many of us have motorbikes and atv's collecting dust in a corner
because it's getting harder to find a place to ride?

MKA and its' members are currently working on the extensive research and fund-raising efforts
required to construct an asphalt paved Sprint Track in the Great Falls area. The track property will
require 20-30 acres of space which will incorporate a 30' wide paved road course of .75 to 1 mile
in running length. The site will also require a paved pit area and some gravel parking.  At the local
level we are discussing land lease opportunities with several parties and will be coordinating
those with the necessary planning and zoning requirements. We will be discussing potential
construction services with several of the areas contractors.
Fund-Raising

Our fund-raising efforts will cover local, state, regional and national companies, organizations
and individuals that have a connection to recreation, motor-sports, karting and Montana's farm
and ranch based economy. Our club will be applying for any and all funds available to non-profit
organizations.
Our 501c3 status allows individual and corporate donations to be fully tax
deductible to each donor.
This new facility will be managed by the membership of the MKA. Our
goal is to provide a recreational opportunity for a variety of families and communities in a
centralized location here in Great Falls. If you have an interest in leasing a piece of land or
donating your time, labor, materials, equipment or resources to our efforts in any way, please
contact us to inquire about our projects status and needs. If you think karting might be fun for you
or your family, inquire about attending a meeting and becoming a member of MKA.

Charities and Community Projects

MKA intends to establish an annual race event that will donate 100% of its proceeds to various
charitable needs. We have several types of events being discussed and will narrow those down
as we draw near the opening of our facility. Our hope is to give the kids in our club an opportunity
to learn how to be involved in charitable projects. Hopefully this will become something that is
part of how they interact with their community through their adult life. Once established, we intend
on hosting an annual event managed by our club that will raise $10,000 - $15,000 for various
charitable efforts. Other community projects will incorporate donation of our time to various
activities including volunteering with groups like the Habitat for Humanity, the Food Bank and the
Great Falls Rescue Mission.
